After chasing a girl who could throw a Mist Ball, Ash was thrown back into a flurry of adventures involving a handful of special and Legendary Pokémon, a new Bounty Hunter, a mysterious scientist, an unidentified Pokémon and an old rival.

- For those who had been watching Pokémon from the beginning, you might be aware that Ash never seemed to grow old and remains 10 even in the newest series. I deliberately ignored that and made him ideally 13 instead during his time in Sinnoh and Paul, I believe, is a year older, according to the Timeline. This story though, happens four years after their Sinnoh journey.

- The story progresses. Not sure if I'm able to keep Paul in character anymore. I so want him to change. For the better, of course.
- In episode 29 (Chim-Charred) of Battle Dimension (season 11 of Pokémon), Paul insulted Ash big time and after Ash makes this speech about love and friends, Paul laughs softly and says, "You sure can get worked up." That line gave me the idea for one of the scenes in this chapter, hence, Paul's rudeness returns.
- The title of this chapter comes from the lyrics of 'You and Me and Pokémon' – one of the songs played at the ending of the movie 'Pokémon Heroes' and one of my fave songs from my fave movie. It's a must see.

- I don't exactly know the rules when it comes to challenging the Battle Frontier but since Reggie has been revealed to win six symbols from the Kanto Battle Frontier, I figured Paul can walk the same path but will win all symbols in the end.
- I know Gliscor's whereabouts isn't clear since it was never mentioned at the end of the DP series whether he returned to the Air Battle Master or went with Ash to Kanto. But I'd like to believe he's at Professor Oak's lab with Ash's other Pokémon. And also, it should be obvious by now that I miss Infernape 
- Not sure if Snivy will evolve before the end of the Best Wishes 2 series, so I just kept her as Snivy here.
- If you'll notice that most chapters end with Paul leaving or walking away, it's because the original summary for this is 'how many times does Ash have to say goodbye before Paul will say that he's here to stay' so the plot outlines are stuck on that idea.
- The title of this chapter comes from the lyrics of 'I Will Be With You' – a theme from the movie "The Rise of Darkrai'

- The title of this chapter comes from the lyrics of 'Fly With Me' by 98 degrees, a song included in the soundtrack of Pokémon the First Movie.
- I am not familiar with the anime-based geography of Unova nor am I familiar with the Unova-exclusive Pokémon yet so I won't bet with my life-savings that the traveling time and descriptions of Pokémon used in this chapter are accurate. And take note that Paul isn't that well-informed about the Pokémon living in this region as well, so he cannot name any yet. He's only familiar with the moves Pokémon use since most of them are the same moves used by Pokémon found in other regions.

A/N: Not beta'ed, of course. I never expected I'd be writing a Pokemon slash fic, let alone an AU. When I was re-watching the episodes of the Sinnoh League battles, I realized that there were several slashy moments between Ash and Paul. I held onto their competitive sides in this prompt and played around with it. Also, I know nothing about rallying so everything here is made up, sort of made it fit into the Pokemon world, minus the amazing pocket monsters.
