"Kurt! What are you doing?" Blaine was shocked to find the entire library half filled with water as if there was a river running underneath.
"I don't know. I was just practicing." Kurt was close in tears. He stood on top of a desk, water creeping on the surface, the Book of Magic cradled in his arms.
"Were you doing magic without supervision?" Blaine asked, appalled that Kurt would place himself in danger.
"I'm sorry. I was just curious." The look of panic that framed Kurt's face broke Blaine's heart. "Help me!"
"That's the plan," Blaine said but he made no move. He remained on top of the steps, wondering how he could get across the room so he could grab the book and find a way to stop this.
"Can you not swim?" Kurt asked, his pitch now reached the highest.
Of course. Of course, Blaine could swim. But it was freezing and Blaine certainly didn't want to risk hypothermia. Wizard or not, his body still functioned like normal human being.
There was a spell though, something to keep the body warm when caught in a situation… well, a situation like this. Blaine racked his brain, thinking of the words and wondering why the heck they had to be in Latin. He sucked big time in Latin.
"Blaine, hurry!" Kurt's screeching triggered Blaine's memory.
"Heat course through my veins," he said in a failed Latin accent, but at least you don't have to say it too perfectly to work. He could feel the heat spreading like warm milk flowing in his belly. Blaine threaded through the rapidly rising water. It reached up to his chest by the time he got to where Kurt was standing.
"Oh Blaine, are you okay?" Kurt heaved Blaine up the table.
"Give me it." Blaine snatched the book from Kurt's hands, not wanting to waste time in small talk. The Mage was probably on his way back and if he found out what happened, Blaine didn't want to think what the Mage could do to Kurt. "What spell were you working on?"
"Here." Kurt turned the pages. "This one."
Blaine was caught between wanting to raise his eyebrows and pull them together in a frown. "A spell to become sexually attractive? What the—"
"Look, can we just reverse this right now and talk about it later?"
"Of course."
Kurt must have done something wrong. It took a full five minutes before Blaine found something to stop this chaos. They had to climb up a shelf because the water continued to rise. Blaine only had to read the reverse spell twice then the water started receding.
"Oh thank goodness," Kurt said, sounding relieved. He climbed down the shelf after Blaine, hand pressed against his chest. "That was close."
"Let's get all these things dried before the Mage gets here." Blaine said the appropriate spell, one he had used so many times to get his clothes dry. Everything was still a mess though, chairs toppled, books strewn all over the place, a corner table upturned. "We have to use our hands to clean up the rest. I don't want to risk another mishap."
Kurt grabbed a broom. "I totally agree."
"Now care to explain why you were working on a spell to become sexually attractive?" Blaine watched Kurt's cheeks turn a pretty shade of pink.
There was a loud bang downstairs followed by "I'm home."
"The mage!" they both cried out, and Blaine was about to cast a spell to get everything in order but Kurt slapped hand over Blaine's mouth.
"No. He's too near, he'd know you're using spells," Kurt whispered. "Quick, take your shirt off."
"My shirt?"
"Just… just do it." Kurt began to undress. "Take your pants off, too."
Blaine knew better than to ask what Kurt had in mind. Besides, the Mage's footsteps were near. Any second now, he was going to come through the door. Blaine had no time to think what he would say because Kurt pushed him up against a wall and started kissing him.
"What the hell is going on here?" The Mage asked, eyes wide.
"Oh." An innocent expression was plastered on Kurt's face. "Oh. Blaine and I were… you know. Well, I guess things kinda gotten out of hand? We didn't realize we've made such a mess, we're sorry."
The lines on the Mage's forehead smoothened. "Well, clean this place up and put some clothes on. Lessons will start in half an hour." With that, the Mage left and Blaine could only stare at Kurt with his mouth hanging open.
